Ghostrider Robot Gets Ready For The DARPA Grand Challenge

Anthony Levandowski at work on his Ghostrider Robot, an autonomous motorcycle developed by him and his team of graduate students from the University of California, in his workshop in Richmond, CA, on September 21, 2005. The team’s Ghostrider, The Blue Team, is one of 40 semi-finalists selected for the 2005 Grand Challenge, a 150-mile off-road race for autonomous vehicles sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration (DARPA). The first vehicle to successfully complete the 150 mile course in the October 8, 2005, competition will win a $2 million prize.
